What a lovely atmosphere for the bedroom

Love the atmosphere from this beautiful bedroom by interior designer Tom Scheerer.
About the interior designer
Tom Scheerer has been practicing architectural and interior design in Manhattan since 1985. His work is characterized by clear and logical architectural solutions combined with beautiful, comfortable furnishings. He emphasizes furniture planning, spatial relationships, color and texture over the ornate or purely decorative. He has a keen appreciation for art. While he is fluent in various styles, he prefers to use antiques sparingly and succinctly within a context of what he labels "relaxed modernism." His fore bearers in the trade are Billy Baldwin and David Hicks, masters of fresh, civilized, beautiful, unpretentious spaces.

After graduating from The Cooper Union in 1985 with a degree in architecture, Mr. Scheerer formed a design partnership with Jeffrey Bilhuber. Almost immediately, their interiors were published in The New York Times Magazine, New York, House Beautiful, House & Garden, Town & Country and other national publications. In 1995, Scheerer formed his own Manhattan-based decorating firm. His work includes recently completed projects in New York, East Hampton, Nantucket and the Bahamas.

In the past ten years, Mr. Scheerer has created several homes on Harbour Island in the Bahamas. His historically accurate restorations have preserved two derelict 18th century coral stone houses. Other island projects include a colonial-style hilltop home and the renovation of a large 1950's villa in a colonial style consonant with Harbour Island's character. Currently Tom Scheerer Inc. is renovating the Lyford Cay Club in Nassau, drawing on Lyford's distinct brand of "island style." His work appears in Elle DĂ©cor, House & Garden, Architectural Digest and House Beautiful, which includes him annually in its list of America's "Top 100" designers.

RUNWAY: Iris van Herpen F/W 2014-15

I was inspired by this beautiful design from fashion designer Iris van Herpen
for Fall/Winter 2014-15 RTW at Paris Fashion Week 2014.
Iris van Herpen
Iris van Herpen (born 5 June 1984) is a Dutch fashion designer. She studied Fashion Design at Artez Institute of the Arts Arnhem and interned at Alexander McQueen in London and Claudy Jongstra in Amsterdam. In 2007, she started her own label. Since July 2011, she is a guest member of the prestigious Parisian Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, which is part of the FĂ©dĂ©ration Française de la Couture.

Career

Iris van Herpen had an intuitive appreciation of fashion and art as a youth. Her first passion was actually dance. It was when she attended the Preparatory Course Art & Design at Artez during her high school years that she became particularly interested in designing clothes.
She graduated in 2006 from the fashion design department of Artez. The department has a strong international reputation and lists notable graduates as Viktor & Rolf, Alexander van Slobbe (SO; Orson+Bodil) and Lucas Ossendrijver (Lanvin Homme). Her graduation collection MACHINE JEWELLERY already bears Van Herpen’s characteristic interest in the visualization of elusive concepts and intangible elements, in this case ‘time’, and inventiveness in material use and treatment.
One year after graduating, Van Herpen launched her own fashion label under her name. Iris van Herpen creates women’s wear collections. Her designs require every time a unique treatment of material or even the creation of complete new materials. For this reason, Van Herpen prefers interdisciplinary research and often collaborates with other artists.
From the beginning of her career Iris van Herpen’s talent has been singled out as very promising and it has grown strong over the years. It has been recognized through awards, exhibitions, publications, and her recent guest membership of the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture.
